Paramedical tattooing is a specialized cosmetic procedure that helps camouflage scars, stretch marks, skin discoloration, and can include areola restoration. It blends pigments into the skin to create natural-looking results and restore confidence in the appearance of the treated area.
-
Cosmetic tattooing, also referred to as semi-permanent makeup or micropigmentation, is the process of implanting color pigments beneath the surface of the skin using tiny, sterile, disposable needles. This technique is used to enhance the natural features of the face, creating the appearance of fuller brows, defined eyeliner, or subtle lip color, with results that are soft, natural, and designed to gently fade over time.
-
The purpose of paramedical tattooing is to restore and enhance natural appearance for clients who have experienced scars, stretch marks, or changes due to surgery or medical conditions. Unlike traditional body tattoos, paramedical procedures use specialized pigments designed to blend seamlessly with the client’s natural skin tone. These pigments are formulated to fade gradually over time, allowing for adjustments as the client’s skin and natural colouring change. The goal is a subtle, natural-looking result that supports confidence, symmetry, and the restoration of a sense of normalcy.
-
The main difference between cosmetic tattooing and standard tattooing is purpose, technique, and pigment type. Standard tattoos are artistic designs applied to the body using ink, and they are meant to be permanent. Cosmetic tattooing, also called semi-permanent makeup or micropigmentation, is designed to enhance natural features of the face, such as brows, lips, or eyeliner. Cosmetic pigments are formulated to be softer and fade gradually over time, allowing for updates as skin and natural coloration change. The application is usually more precise and subtle than standard tattooing, focusing on a natural, blended appearance rather than bold, permanent designs.

A topical numbing cream is applied before and during the procedure to help reduce sensation. Everyone’s pain tolerance is different, but most people describe the feeling as a light scratching or tingling rather than sharp pain. After the procedure, the area may feel slightly sensitive for a short time, similar to a mild sunburn, but any discomfort usually fades quickly.

Most clients require a minimum of two sessions, spaced at least eight weeks apart. After the first week, the pigment often appears much lighter than expected. Some clients like the softer look, while others prefer a more defined result. During the second session, we will evaluate how the color has settled and make any necessary adjustments. Everyone heals at their own pace, so if your cosmetic tattoo doesn’t appear perfect after the first session, there’s no need to worry. We can always deepen the color and add more density at your follow-up appointment.
-
Sun exposure: The sun can significantly soften the appearance of your tattoo, so applying sunblock once healed is important to help maintain your enhancement.
Skin regeneration: The speed at which your skin regenerates affects how long the pigment lasts. Slower regeneration can help the pigment hold longer.
Pigment absorption: The slower your skin absorbs the pigment, the longer it is likely to last.
Colour choice: Some colors fade faster than others. For example, blonde shades typically fade more quickly than dark browns.
Treatment area: Areas like the face may fade more quickly due to constant exposure and natural movement.
Bleeding during the procedure: Excessive bleeding can reduce pigment retention. Alcohol and certain medications act as blood thinners and should be avoided before and after your appointment.
Aftercare: Following aftercare instructions carefully during the first two weeks is essential. For example, excessive sweating during healing can affect the final appearance of hairstrokes.

During your appointment, we will assess your skin tone and the area being treated to anticipate how pigments may settle and fade over time. We carefully select and mix pigments to ensure they blend naturally with your surrounding skin. Most clients’ paramedical tattoos maintain their color while softening naturally as the skin heals. In some cases, pigments may shift slightly depending on individual factors such as lifestyle, skin type, or iron levels. At your follow-up appointment, we will evaluate how your body has responded to the initial pigment and make any necessary adjustments or color corrections. Over time, paramedical tattoos may appear softer as the skin ages. To maintain optimal results, a refresher session is recommended every 1 to 2 years. Results vary with each client.

Absolutely! Our studio is maintained to the highest standards of cleanliness and safety. We use only single-use, disposable needles and supplies, ensuring that each setup is safely discarded after every client. All workstations are thoroughly disinfected before opening and after each procedure to maintain a sterile environment throughout the day.

For both cosmetic and paramedical tattooing, a consultation is required before booking a procedure. Consultations can be scheduled online and may be conducted in person or via Zoom. Bringing reference photos of both the area to be treated and the desired outcome is helpful, as it allows us to plan the procedure accurately.
A deposit is required to secure your appointment, and it will be applied toward the total cost of the procedure. If you do not attend your consultation, the deposit is forfeited.
During the consultation, we will assess your skin, discuss your goals, review aftercare, and determine the best approach and pigments for your procedure. After the consultation, we can schedule your treatment session at a convenient time.
Please arrive on time for both your consultation and treatment, as delays may affect the procedure. If you need to reschedule, please provide at least 48 hours’ notice to avoid losing your deposit.
